It is a service for the community offering people with a disability, impairment, injury or illness, whether permanent or temporary, the opportunity to hire manual and powered wheelchairs and a wide variety of scooters.
Access to the Town Centre Shopping Area

The first is to enable our customers to access the town centre shopping area and General Hospital, if required, by the best means to suit them

This may be by hiring a manual wheelchair of if they wish to be completely independent, a scooter or eclectric wheelchair
How Does this Part of the Scheme Work?

You may use the scheme as often as you wish subject to the equipment being available

The Co-ordinator will assit you to select the items best suited to your individual needs and preference

If using powered eqipment for the first time, your will be given an assessment and short training session to ensure that you can operate it safely

Additional eqipment such as leg extensions, right or left hand controls, cushions and blankets can be supplied
How Can I Join?

You arrive you will be required to complete a registration form and show proof of identity with your name and address. You will be issued with a membership card which you will need to produce each time you wish to use the service
What Does it Cost?

There is no annual membership fee, but users who complete a membership form are charged £2.00 per session, non-members £3.00

Visitors to the town are most welcome to use the equipment provided proof of identity is shown. The charge for this is £3.00 per visit.
